Iconic Catalan label celebrates its 100th release.
Mikel Gil welcomes 2022 as he bid farewell to the outgoing year, with techno of many carats that overflows with acidity, power and dance. On this occasion he contributes a new track to the compilation with which the Barcelona label Asphixia Records, owned by Rabent, celebrates its 100th release. The DJ and producer from Vitoria presents a new track called ‘Back on acid’, mastered by Javi Lago.
Mikel Gil, in this APX100 reference, which sounds techno, breaks, etc., shares a release with artists such as A-Flux, Blakeit, BRGX2, Loop, Dark-307, Dash3d, Drucal, Dusty Tech, Eric Sän, Fratek Looponsky, H. Paul, etc. A great line-up in which the artist from Alava – as one of the main bastions of the best national underground techno – could not be absent. The art-work of the release is the work of Miss Patty Angulo. “Back On Acid”
In this cut Mikel Gil shows himself in absolute splendour in terms of his vision of acid techno, the one in which he moves with absolute dexterity. Over a “Gil’s trademark” bass drum, the producer makes rollicking bubbles emerge in a loop, over sparkling pads, which give the cut a futuristic air, seasoned with a sci-fi groove, which synergises perfectly with the industrial and anabolic percussion. No need to go back to where you never left… (Fernando Fuentes, febrero 2022)
