MOAI Platform Europe welcomes Cholost

MOAI Platform Europe welcomes Cholost

The duo “Cholost” was born as a concept in Barcelona, Spain in 2020, carried hand in hand with the experience of two DJ’s with more than 6 years of experience offering an interesting proposal; On one side is Captha, from Colombia and his collective “Zonamed” (dedicated mainly to electronic music and event production in the city of Medellin) coming to perform in different spaces of the city and making possible that other DJ’s could also do it, as a booker of artists dedicated to electronic music; on the other hand, Triple Jo, from Venezuela with his label “New Olimpo” (dedicated to the musical and audiovisual production of mainly hip-hop tracks and its variants, as well as more experimental sounds within the genre). Presenting his techno and breakbeat sessions in different spaces since 2015 in his hometown, Lechería; then recording, singing and writing all his material and that of other artists from a home studio located in Venice, Italy, years later.
This alliance was created while both artists were studying music production and music business in early 2020, after sharing several studio sessions and agreeing on the musical vision, they decided to join forces to create this sound, starring drum machines, synthesizers and altered vocals, combined with digital technology and sound design that take their music to be a more immersive experience.
Inspired by 90’s culture, the most influential genres that have come to form Cholost’s sound can range from Gangsta Rap and classic House to Breakbeat and 2002 Berlin Techno, resulting in a raw, aggressive and energetic sound for dancefloors or open venues; Cholost also offers sessions and live sets of music that, depending on the context, varies and can be adapted to any environment creating different atmospheres and experiences (days, nights, clubs, terraces, festivals, pool parties, etc.).
Artistically influenced by great references and record labels within the genre such as Shall not Fade, Mall Grab, Cari Lekebusch, KAS:ST, Fjaak, DJ Stingray, Verraco, Bogoture Records, Huerta.
The projection of Cholost from here to the future is to continue advancing in its musical part, introducing in its live presentation a live set format with different elements for live creation, synthesizers, MIDI equipment, effects, voice. Later on, to have the possibility of publishing more projects under the record label (New Olimpo) and to implement distribution models for music and merchandise, in order to strengthen the brand to the level of being able to produce and finance other emerging artists, as well as to have facilities to assemble a creative studio dedicated to musical and audiovisual production.
